Seattle University Civil Engineering department has earned one of the eight 2024 NCEES Engineering Awards out of 38 blind submittals.
The award-winning capstone project created improvements to Camp Korey, in Skagit County, providing year-round programs for children with life-altering medical conditions. Degenkolb Engineers sponsored the project and three of their licensed engineers mentored a team of four civil engineering seniors throughout the academic year.
The team made seismic retrofit recommendations to the camp facility and made the bathroom and the main floor of the camp universally accessible. Furthermore, the kitchenette was converted into a full-size kitchen with a breakfast nook.
As a licensee, if you are interested in mentoring engineering students, please contact one of the engineering programs at your local universities.
