Professional Engineer License Exams

BRPELS partners with the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) to administer engineering exams. All NCEES exams are through Computer-Based Testing (CBT).

All Washington exam applicants must complete our application process before scheduling the exam.

Note: Architectural Engineering is licensed in WA as Building Systems Engineer.

Structural Exams

Application deadlines for PE Structural exams are:

January 15th for the April exam administration July 31st for the October exam administration

What Can I Bring to The Exam?

Please visit NCEES, for information about items allowed in the exam room.

Are Special Accommodations Available?

Yes, please see the Reasonable Accommodations page of the NCEES website for instructions on how to make arrangements for your exam.

Do I Need to Reapply If I Failed an Exam?

No, you do not need to reapply to the board office, you can reschedule your exam directly with NCEES.

After You Pass the Exams

Once you pass the NCEES PE exam make sure that we have your current mailing address. Licenses are issued once a month, and you will be notified of your license number. 

No further action is required, you do not need to contact the Board office.

Wall certificates will be issued within 12 weeks.
