Two BRPELS staff members visited the South Puget Sound Chapter of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington in Tacoma, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Presentations were by BRPELS Deputy Director, Kristina Horton, PLS, and Communication Manager, Greg Schieferstein.
“Our Board seems mysterious to so many surveyors. But with our presentation, along with questions and
answers, members say they have a much better understanding of our agency,” said Horton.
She explained the history of BRPELS, the makeup of the Board and agency organization. Horton also helped surveyors understand the investigation and case closure process.
Schieferstein reviewed the new BRPELS website and outreach projects, such as chapter visits and association conferences. He said the agency is also working to draw more interest in surveying careers. One example is aimed at kids, with our new character “Blaze” the BRPELS Bigfoot.
Our agency is also beginning a new campaign to remind home and land owners to only hire professional, licensed land surveyors.
