On-Site Inspector Certificate of Competency
All applicants are required to take the On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Designers exam. To be considered for approval you must submit a complete application to the board office.
If you have a certificate of competency, you may perform on-site design services for local health jurisdictions, but may not practice as a licensed on-site designer.
Application Requirements
- Employment at a local health jurisdiction
- One year of practical work experience under the direct supervision of a certificate of competency holder, licensed designer or Professional Engineer.
- A written request for certification from your Local Health Director or designee
- A passing score on the On-Site Designer/Inspector Law Review
- A passing score on the written On-Site Designer License Exam
Required Documentation
- Complete the On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector Certificate of Competency Application
- Pay your fee (see form directions)
- Complete On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Inspector Certificate of Competency Experience Verification form
- Have the director/director designee of the Health Department/Jurisdiction sign the DOH request for Examination form and submit it with your application
- Pass the Washington On-Site Wastewater Designer/Inspector Law Review Exam
